With Single Stream the following recyclable items can be commingled together in the same container up to 32 gallons in size and not to exceed 50lbs.

Items that can be recycled curbside include:
Paper: Newspaper/inserts, magazines, paperback books, catalogs, junk mail, phone books, office paper, even color paper. Window envelopes, staples and paper clips are OK.
No: Soiled paper or boxes, wax covered paper or plastic bags.
Cardboard: corrugated cardboard, chipboard (cereal boxes, shoe boxes, etc). Cardboard no longer has to be cut down or tied into single sheets, but they must be able to fit into your recycling container. You can nest recyclable cardboard boxes and/or use the cardboard box as a container for other recyclable material.
No: Waxed cardboard (pizza boxes, milk, or orange juice boxes). These items should go in with regular trash.
Glass: Clear and colored food and beverage containers. Please rinse clean. Collars, neck rings and labels do not need to be removed. Remove lids, covers, and corks.
No: Window glass, Pyrex, ceramics or light bulbs. Bring fluorescent light bulbs to Household Hazardous Waste collection days or Wanamaker Hardware, Mass Ave, Arlington Heights.
Metal: Deposit and non-deposit beverage cans, metal food cans, aluminum pie plates and trays and clean aluminum foil. Rinse items clean. Crush to save space. Labels may be left on.
No: aerosol can, paints cans, or other metals.
Plastic: All plastic containers labeled 1-7, plastic milk, juice or water jugs, soda and detergent bottles. Rinse clean, remove lids and crush to save space.
No: Plastic bags, Styrofoam, packing peanuts, motor oil, or chemical containers.
