Where can a marriage license for a same-gender couple be obtained in Napa?
All marriage licenses are issued by the office of the County Clerk and not by the City of Napa.
The Napa County Clerk has suspended the issuance of same gender marriage licenses and the performance of same gender ceremonies effective at 12:01 AM Wednesday November 5, 2008. “On advice of counsel I am implementing this suspension to avoid future legal problems for same gender couples and for Napa County until the final status of Proposition 8 is determined by the electorate and the courts,” announced Napa County Clerk John Tuteur.
